That New York band Anamaguchi has a Japanese-looking name is no coincidence: the four members love Japanese video games from the 80s. Besides guitar, bass, drums and vocals, you can also hear a lot of NES and Game Boy sounds on Anamanaguchi's catchy songs, putting them in an obscure genre also known as chiptune or nintendocore. Apart from video games, Anamanaguchi also draws inspiration from pop greats like Weezer, the Beach Boys and Janet Jackson.
