ELDERS

ELDERS

Beloveds Tom Pintens and Laurence Roothooft started their musical passion project, Elders, to give sound to their shared desires and struggles. The world of Elders became an exciting yet melancholic place where mechanical beats, hypnotic vocals, room-filling guitar sound, and synthesizers flourish. Elders' electronic dreampop evokes comparisons to Goose, Caroline Polachek, and The XX. Some have remarked that Elders' sound feels perfectly suited to the eerie atmosphere of a David Lynch film soundtrack.

Shortly before they could finish their album in 2023, Tom Pintens passed away. Laurence Roothooft decided to complete the album with Jasper Segers (known for his work with Sylvie Kreusch) and bring it to life on stage with Simon Nuytten (Bazart) on guitar and Bent Van Looy on drums. The driving energy of Simon and Bent adds even more depth to the songs, making the live experience even more intense. Yet it is Laurence's impressive presence—both vulnerable and powerful—that mercilessly draws the audience into the universe of Elders.

On November 14, 2024, the day Tom would have turned 50, the band gave an unforgettable concert at De Roma in Antwerp. Two days later, they opened for Goose at the Lotto Arena. By the end, there was no doubt: Elders will continue.
