Liz Lawrence has been skimming through quite a few musical genres. When she was 19, she released a folk-pop record, and that music made its way into the popular series The Vampire Diaries. After a difficult period with managers in London, she was asked to tour with the band Bombay Bicycle Club, with whom she still often collaborates to this day. Then came the electro pop duo project Cash+David, which may have had a short life but was a rich learning experience for the young musician. She released the album ‘Pity Party’ under her own name, toured with Lucy Dacus, Snail Mail, Faye Webster and Bloc Party, and finally found the sound she felt at home in. Even though London had since become a creative home for Liz, the lack of money brought her back to the British village where she grew up. In the quiet of the countryside, the musician did a lot of soul searching and contacted producer Ali Chant, who had already worked with Perfume Genius and Aldous Harding. The two recorded the record ‘Peanuts’, with pop songs that rub against indie, garage and electro and do not shy away from themes such as politics, economics and British identity.
