In 2012, at the age of 19, Douwe Bob won the inaugural edition of the TV program "De Beste Singer-Songwriter van Nederland" (The Best Singer-Songwriter of the Netherlands) with the song he wrote for his father, Multicoloured Angels in the final. At 24, he represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest (the world's largest music event), with the song "Slow Down." In 2016, he graced the cover of L”HOMO (LINDA) and in 2023, that of Men’s Health. In 2021, he moved audiences with his rendition of "Bended Knee" for Peter R. De Vries.

In 2023, he appeared on Beste Zangers (Best Singers), where he made a particularly strong impression with the Irish folk song "Danny Boy." Over the past two years, Douwe Bob has scored no fewer than 5 of his 8 top 40 Hits. In 2024, he performed at almost all major festivals, such as Pinkpop, Paaspop, and Concert At Sea. and Zwarte Cross, and a club tour of no fewer than 21 sold-out shows at clubs such as Paradiso, Tivoli, and Oosterpoort. In 2024, Douwe Bob was the most popular Dutch artist on Dutch radio.

In the summer of 2024, Douwe Bob provided the music for the NOS broadcasts of the Olympic Games for two weeks in Paris. At the end of 2024, he sang the Elvis Presley cover of "My Boy" on Paul De Leeuw (Sint en De Leeuw). Douwe Bob sang "Foto Van Vroeger" (Photo of the Past) at the commemoration of Rob De Nijs at his funeral. In 2025, another sold-out theater tour followed, visiting 31 theaters, followed by a rendition of Bob Dylan's "Masters of War" at the National Remembrance Day on May 4th, two major Liberation Day festivals on May 5th, and the closing event of the club tour at AFAS Live in Amsterdam on May 16th. 2025.
