Zeeland group Racoon is more popular than ever, even with a career of more than 25 years. The men used to write exclusively English songs, but with ‘Oceaan’ (2012) they had a huge Dutch hit. They made the switch to the all-Dutch album ‘Spijt Is Iets Voor Later’, which won an Edison and whose single ‘Het Is Al Laat Toch’ became that year's biggest Dutch hit. Racoon then played just about every concert hall (including a sold-out Ahoy) and many festivals in our northern neighbourhood.
With ‘Nickel For Goodbye’, Racoon now releases another English single. Thanks to the arrival of new bassist Maarten van Damme (ex-Abel and Rosemary's Son), an intriguing interaction with the other band members is also seeping in, as their musical inspirations sometimes diverge quite a bit.
